What started as a regular tour stop in Sydney turned into a moment few in the crowd expected. During a late-night set at the intimate laneway venue The Sally, American singer Role Model brought out a group better known for daytime TV than club stages: The Wiggles.
The appearance happened mid-show, with the venue packed shoulder to shoulder. The Wiggles joined Role Model onstage for a brief performance that leaned into the surprise rather than spectacle. There was no elaborate setup or advance hint. It played out casually, which made the moment land even harder with the audience.
The Wiggles have been a constant in Australian pop culture for decades, while Role Model is currently touring internationally following recent releases. Seeing the two share a small stage blurred the line between generations and genres, if only for a few minutes.
The crowd reaction was immediate and loud. Phones came out. Laughter followed. Then applause. It was one of those live moments that only works because it wasn’t planned to be anything bigger than it was
